Shea butter is a fat that is extracted from the nut of a shea tree that are native to West Africa and a larger percentage of shea butter used in the cosmetic industry is sourced from this region.
Shea butter is a solid butter with an off white to ivory colour, it has been used in the cosmetics industry for centuries and in West Africa for thousands of years. Its has a high concentration of vitamins such as vitamin A, E and F these are powerful antioxidants and shea butter contains significant levels of them. Antioxidants are important in the deduction of the ageing process they neutralize free-radicals protecting the skin cells from deterioration and therefore premature ageing.
